Spotlight Search is an essential and often-forgotten feature of your iPhone that makes it easy for you to find anything complicated on your device quickly. Especially, it searches for apps, files, messages, locations, web pages, news, and more on the device. Users need to be on the Home Screen to access the Spotlight natively, and iOS developer alex_pngwanted has released a new jailbreak tweak called SpotlightPls that makes Spotlight accessible from anywhere.

With SpotlightPls, users can summon Spotlight search from anywhere in iOS, even from within apps, using a custom gesture of their choosing. You know that this is already possible with the popular Activator add-on by Ryan Petrich. But, like SpotlightPls tweak, Activator doesn’t officially support iOS 14. Therefore, we would recommend you to use the SpotlightPls tweak.

SpotlightPls Tweak Options

Once installed, SpotlightPls tweak provides a dedicated preference window to the Settings app on your iPhone, where users can select their preferred gesture for activating Spotlight search.

Spotlightpls Tweak Settings

  • Swipe left on the Status Bar to invoke Spotlight

  • Swipe down on the Status Bar with two fingers to invoke Spotlight
  • Shake your device to invoke Spotlight
  • Enable or disable haptic feedback

Then, users can tap the Respring button at the top-right of the screen to save any changes they made.

If Spotlight Search is something you find helpful, but you do not want to close the interface you already have to access it, SpotlightPls tweak is worth checking out. Users can download the tweak for free from alex_png’s repository via your favorite packet manager app. It also supports all jailbroken iOS 13 and iOS 14 devices.
