Sometimes when receiving many notifications for your iPhone or iPad, you might simply ignore them for later reading. However, the amount of your unread notifications increases without your knowledge. So, to stop that, iOS developer wrp1002 has released a new and free jailbreak tweak dubbed GrowingBadges.

GrowingBadges allows your apps’ missed notification badges to grow as the number of missed notifications for those apps increases, as the name indicates.

While a notification badge representing 1-10 missed notifications may appear to be standard size, a badge representing 70 missed notifications would be nearly 50% larger, and a badge representing more than 3,400 missed notifications would take up almost the entire app icon, as shown in the screenshot example above.

The tweak is configurable. So, users can find a dedicated preference window in the Settings app after installation, and they can configure some options to their liking.

GrowingBadges Features

GrowingBadges Tweak Settings
  • Turn GrowingBadges on or off on demand
  • Limit the badge size, so it doesn’t grow too large
  • Enter the maximum number of notifications
  • Reset all settings to their defaults
  • Respring your device to save any adjustments you have made

If you allow your notifications to grow out of hand, the restrict badge size option may come in helpful so you can see your app icon(s) beneath the notification badge (s). Thankfully, the creator anticipated this eventuality and included a safety net.
